Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado are a source of inspiration for many to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. When you encounter people from different countries, such as New Zealanders and tell them "I come from Colorado" then they instantly react with Oh John Denver. Brown clarified. Take Me Home Country Roads, co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career in folk groups and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version of the song and realized it would become a top 10 hit. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer made a recording a few days later.
